Creating Your Personal Style

Creating your own personal style doesn't always come easy to everyone. For some, it takes more time and research. Yes, research. This will help you figure what it is that makes your style unique. Everyone has a style whether you know what it is or not. Here are a few steps to help you get started:

1. Get Rid of Everything That Isn't You
Sometimes we buy things and at the moment we love it, then later we realize that we hate it and isn't a reflection of us or our style.

2. Know Your Body & Colors
Make sure that you know your body, what shapes and colors flatter your skin tones and shape. Certain colors are slimming and others can make you look bigger.

3. Develop Your Signature Piece
Pieces that you wear with almost all of your outfits or a way you always put your outfits together. (always wearing heels, jeans, sunglasses, a dress, a hairstyle, etc) (bright colors, dark colors, vintage, bold, etc)

4. Mix Multiple Styles Into One
This will help create the ultimate personal style.

5. Know What You Like & Dislike About Yourself
Helps you to know what parts to highlight and which to hide. If you live your legs, show them off! If you live your shoulders, wear one shoulder tops, tops with both shoulders out or tube tops.

6. Keep Your Style In Mind Next Time You Shop
Before you shop again make sure that you know what you "need" and "want". Resist going for trendy items because your staple pieces should always come first! (then the trends). Make a list of before you go shopping and stick to it!

Tip: Keep in mind that your personal style and your wardrobe should also be a reflection of your lifestyle.

A New Direction

Have you ever looked back to the past and came to realize how when you where younger there was always someone you wanted to be like personality wise or dress like? Funny how when you get older, shit starts to set in and get real. You start to think of how you can set yourself apart from others. Be different. Stick out. Ya know, develop your own thang. Not by any means is finding yourself easy. Trust me. I know. Some people don't find themselves until..well..when they consider it to late. I can't tell ya'll that I've found my damn self but I can say that I am still in the process and I can share my thoughts with you.

I recently decided to change my college major from Fashion Retail Merch to Physical Therapy. I know, major change. But that's not the crazy part. I feel like I've been on this long as journey just to get ready to start another long ass journey... ya know..? It's a never ending process. Before I changed my major to Fashion Merch it was Fashion Design. Obviously, I've come to terms with the fact that life will throw me in any direction. A direction that I am not prepared for. A direction that I don't wanna take. A direction that I don't wanna take but would be best for me in the long run. Ya get what I'm saying here?

The Stripe Obsession

WEARING CROPPED STRIPE TEE AND BRACELETS BY FOREVER 21, SUPER DISTRESSED JEANS BY WAX, NECKLACES FROM CHARLOTTE RUSSE AND ETSY

I seem to be going through quite the stripe phase right now. I have no idea what has suddenly come over me but I have been shopping for various color stripe sweaters. This particular sweater here I purchased around a year (something like that) ago and it has been my favorite since the first time I wore it. It's cropped and loose fitting which happens to be some of the things I like. With my sense of style, it has to be cute (fitting my personality) but above all..comfortable. I cannot tolerate wearing anything that tends to make me the least bit uncomfortable. Not long after I seem to turn into this cranky, bitch witch. Anyways, gotta go hit the books!

Stay Fabulous,
Ash xoxo

Super excited that this ridiculous rain and flooding decided to let up so I had a chance to get out the house and do a post today. The weekend has been great so far! Woke up and headed to the Arts On Foot Festival in DC today to watch my godmother Stacy perform. "Stacy Brooks Band" They sing Blues music and they are great! If you're ever in the DC area you MUST check them out.

Stay Fabulous,
Ash xoxo

bahama mama

So I'm finally back from my week long trip to the bahamas. It was exactly what I expected and more. Amazing and beautiful! I spent my weekend at the island with my mother to celebrate my 21st birthday (which my birthday was actually May 27th) but we had a blast. Ofcourse my days were spent hitting the lazy river, eating, sight seeing and going to the aqaurium a million times. The best part or my favorite part probably had to be when we went to Dolphin Cay for the Dolphin Interaction! It was super fun! They feel like smooth rubber, lol. The dolphin me and my group was partnered with was "Missy" isn't she cute!?
